Copyright Infringement on the Low Protein Food List for PKU & Recent Data Deletion

Dear MyPKUDiet.com and PKU DietBook Mobile App Members,
A few weeks ago I received a letter from National PKU News lawyers claiming copyright infringement on the Low Protein Food List. Since I am just a parent doing this for the community and not a company with infinite resources to fight a lawsuit, I am forced to remove food data from the website’s food database. I have had to make changes to the database by removing some fields that follow the format of the Low Protein Book List as well as remove foods where data was not uploaded or available from other public sources such as the USDA database or the labels from manufacturers of low protein foods. All foods from low protein food manufacturers such as Cambrooke, Taste Connections, PKU Perspectives, etc source label will change from Low Protein Food List to Manufacturer Label. For the foods that I must remove, you will need to re-enter the data. If you are entering data where the source is your copy of the Low Protein Food List book, you must make sure you select “Personal” as the data source so the data will not be shared to the whole community. Again, I am disappointed to have to make the changes but believe that even without all the data being shared that this website and mobile application are still a valuable tool for tracking and managing the PKU diet.
Sincerely,
mypkudiet.com team
